GAUTENG CLIMBERS READY TO REPRESENT TEAM SOUTH AFRICA IN GUIYANG, CHINA!

Gauteng Youth Climbers to Compete in China this August in the IFSC Youth World Championships.

Johannesburg, South Africa – [1 July 2024] – Eight of Gauteng's best Youth Sport climbers will join the South African Youth Sport Climbing Team at the IFSC Youth World Championships in China this August. These young female and male athletes, ranging in age from 13 to 19, have demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and passion for the sport and are eager to compete against the best youth climbers from around the world.

The team, selected through a rigorous national qualification process, includes climbers who have excelled in various disciplines such as bouldering, lead climbing, and speed climbing. Their journey to the world stage is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the support of their families, coaches, and the South African climbing community. This event not only provides a platform for these young athletes to showcase their abilities but also serves to inspire a new generation of climbers in South Africa.

This year the IFSC Youth World Championships will take place from August 22, 2024, in Guiyang, China. This annual event attracts the most promising young climbers from around the globe, offering them an unparalleled opportunity to gain international experience and recognition. For many young athletes, their path to the LA 2028 begins right here! The South African team is optimistic about their prospects and is determined to make the country proud.

Each athlete bears the financial responsibility of funding their travel. Carmen Bouwer, team manager, explains, "Our management team is dedicated to ensuring that no athlete misses out due to lack of funds."
